The latest episode for The Solo Album Podcast is an interview I conducted with guitar instrumentalist Pete Laramee.

MP3 - http://www.thesoloalbum.com/podcast/21_interview_pete_laramee.mp3

In this interview, Laramee shares his insights and experiences about the following:

 - the music business
 - working with ex-Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian
 - home recording
 - collaborating with musicians from other bands
 - face-to-face networking
 - advice for younger independent artists
 - why failure is important

The song at the end is titled, "Running With Scissors."  It features Michael Passen of Concrete Prophet on bass.

That was really long, but so worth it. If anyone is worried about the time requirement, I say go ahead and download it, it's worth the time. Smiley

Good job man.

Good informative and honest discussion.

As I was listening, when Pete was describing his songs, I was hoping to hear some of Pete's music.
Hey, Brian, maybe you coud mix in some pertinent clips.
I know it's a lot of work, but it would really enhance the experience.

Thanks

Hey Brian, you mentioned your Dad a few times, and how he influenced your musical awarness.
Is he some sort of huge guitar-god that we should know about?
Just kidding.
But seriously, it's nice to hear that Pete approaches his work first by writing actual tunes.
That's why I like his stuff and can listen to it over and over (btw I bought a few if his CDs at a show last year).
Also, Pete's structural (compositional) sense is so satisfying.
Thanks for the effort,  Brian and Pete.

N.

ps I second what LeVo said about inserting clips while Pete describes specific cuts.
