Heeeeeeeeeeeeey people!
'been a long time since I posted something about music!
Here's the news:
I joined a band almost 3 months ago named Exutoire (means "an outlet to let the steam out" y'know?)
These guys are amazing! So motivated by their creations and the will to succeed in a tough world of self produced music!!
This time, it's big!! I mean BIG!!
They just finished their first 100% auto-produced album, recorded in the basement of Leon, the lead singer/rythm guitar player and, I swear, the sound is A M A Z I N G!!!
So, I play only one track on it, which is actually really great because it was already recorded but Leon didn't like the track being too distant from the drum. They didn't "lock" together... Sooooooo they gave me a spot to feature on their first album and the track came out, well, amazing!!!
I even laid some back vocals in it! MAN I'm proud now!
So now, after 3 months, I have a role in this band: Tour Manager! Yep!
I'm collecting all the places were author/composer can showcase their creations, finding festivals to play at, find bands to share the stage, etc...
And, I'm also the guy who codes all the brand new website!

Okay okay, no more playing around now!! I actually have something to show from the band and the new album!
All this with the temporary page for the band:
http://exutoirerock.com
Go there, check out the youtube video (which has a nice little animation hehehe) and listen to the first single and let me know what you think about that!
Now, I must say that, there are 10 tracks on this new CD and all of them are unique and touches different styles, or shades of rock I should say!
Half of the CD is very heavy, almost metal-ish ( ala Metallica sort of)
I'm pretty happy to know these guys as I know this time, I'm on board of something that has been unleashed to rock people's a$$!
YEAH!

Stephan, my man, thanks for keeping us in the loop.  I don't have time now to fully take this all in, as I'm currently doing some things for the site.  But, I promise I will come back within the next few days to read through and listen.  Thanks bro!

Stephan, you are always part of bands with such exotic names!

I'm digging what I hear so far, and I'm eager to hear more of the metal sound you speak of.  But as an outsider, I'm actually really impressed with the other things that you say you've done for the band.

You're the tour manager....AND you've done the website?  Not to mention you even played and sang on a track or two?  W.........O..........W!!!!!

Was the YouTube song the one you played on?  Or was that a different one?

@Brian:
Thanks for the comments man, it means a lot!
To answer your questions:
I am a professional web site developer so, yes, I am doing that among other things (It's actually my day job)
I inherited the Tour Manager title because we're 100% self-produced so, everyone needs to have roles and I appear to be the one who has the skills to do such thing.
The drummer is also sharing this title with me by the way!
Also, a little precision needs to be made: I'm playing only on one track on the CD and I'm part of the choir in this same song. That's the only song I'm participating on this album since I joined when the album was already recorded in almost its entirety.
They weren't really satisfied with the former bass player who recorded the bass as it wasn't "locking" with the drums and it's a rather bluesy kinda song that needed the bass to be as tight as possible with what the drums are doing and also, keep it VERY (and I mean it) simple!
I did just that in about 2½ hours in the studio.
As for the song you heard on the youtube link, no, that's not that one, unfortunately.

@Marc: Thanks bro, the lead player is very very talented and very well equipped! He plays on a Steve Vai signature Ibanez and he sounds amazing!

Here's another link with another song from the band named "La Faucheuse" meaning "The Reaper":
http://www.reseauurbain.com/exutoire

It's not a meatl-ish song but more of a power ballad.
As I mentionned, the album is VERY large when it comes to "shades" of rock!

Enjoy! Smiley

Aaaaah, so I see.  I might have to pick your brain about web stuff sometime.  Currently listening to "La Faucheuse".  I'll post more thoughts later, but for starters the acoustic guitar sound is really good!

Thanks Stephan.  :-)

I listened to about 10 times in a row last week.  The singer is a great talent, and the guitar is smoking!  This is a really pro act.  Definitely want to hear more from this band.

Will you be filling out the site a little more?

Brian, you bet I will!
Right now, we are in the process of building everything from scratch for the booking, merch, paypal setup, etc...
Rest assured that as soon as we have enough content to keep fans interested weeks after weeks, I will be on it 120%!
Glad you liked them because the rest is even better! (IMHO)
We had our first ever rehearsal that included ALL of the album's songs and it was a first impression that will stay in my mind as a very, VERY high bar to surpass!
It was almost perfect! (I said almost right?)
Tomorrow is our first one that will include one first cover: Run To The Hills by Iron Maiden!
Just to tease you guys out there, the album touches MANY aspect of the Rock style in all it's shades! Maiden is one of them and soon, I will post our official setlist here.

things are getting done and we're very focused on solid results!
You'll see this project get more fans on the facebook, twitter and MySpace (even though I think MySpace isn't the real deal anymore...)

So, that's it for now!

Keep you posted!

Hey all!
Quick update!
The album is now out and I have some copies in my possession for sale! YEAH!
I've also updated the official temporary page of the band: http://www.exutoirerock.com with the existing videos that can be found on youtube including the "making of" of the album which we can see me perform during my audition with the band!
I've also put up the Paypal link to buy the album online and also, a link to donate via Paypal because, let's face it, any money coming our way will be greatly welcome and appreciated!

So, that's it for now!!

Cheers!

oh yeah man, this is what I'm talking about!  Dude, I love videos like this where you see all the behind the scenes type stuff.  one of the videos in particular is almost a music video, where it mixes the recording sessions with the auditions, and just some other shots.

It was really cool to see a brief clip of you up there Stephan, too bad it wasn't for longer.  I hope to see more of these videos in the future!

Thanks a lot Brian!
Right, these videos were made exactly to deliver this kind of effect that you describe so, mission accomplished!
We are actually planning a real videoclip for one of the song (can't tell which one yet) and we're actually searching for camera artists to help us do that!
A LOT is actually ongoing and it's SO cool!
As for filmed gigs, we will have A LOT of them starting in september!
For now, the nearest event is this next saturdayat a private party where a big shot from Astral Media, owning one of the biggest private TV and FMradio networks here in Quebec province (and Canada for that matter) will be present with a crew of people to see us perform!!
I'm currently also searching and requesting infos for the album launch here in my region as we will have one for each band member's region!
So, as you can see, we're pretty busy and doing great!
Thank you for putting up a site like this one so I can share all this goodness!
Have a great day and I will come back with more cool news soon!

Later!!

Wow man, Exutoire is certainly a band of action.  I can't wait to see more videos, as I think it really allows bands to personalize the music.  You know, I was just thinking that it would be great to do a music video of our music too.  I'll have to keep thinking on that one.

Hello folks!
Well, a little bit of news about us!
I already booked two gigs for presenting the Album! One in my hometown of Quebec city and another one in my current town, Sorel-tracy!
I don't know the exact term for that type of gig but, it's kinda of a happy hour where you present the album to people and medias that you invite and then play a few songs off the album for them to enjoy the live act of the band!
Then, our singer booked one in his hometown of La Tuque which will be held in a nice place with good sound accoustics!
Can't wait!
Speaking of which, we made the frontpage of that town named La Tuque!! 13 000 copies with our name and pics on it!!
That's a nice start I think!
Also, I'm working on a blitz to release version 1.0 of our official website!
The goal is to have it online by next sunday!
Our lead singer Leon and keyboardist Carine went for a radio interview and some songs were played as well on radio in this same town and I'm working on having the band play live on another radio station real soon!
People are starting to dig in and it feels REALLY good!
We're continuing to push hard and harder to achieve a dream at the very tips of our fingers right now and everyone is SO pumped that I'm 150% sure we will succeed!
One last thing, an internet radio is hosting a poll on the best band for the month of september and we're in it!
If you guys feels like helping us out, go visit http://www.radiorockdrummond.com and on the right part of the page, you'll see our name Exutoire that you can choose and then hit Vote!
It takes 10 seconds per day and it might help us getting our percentage up a bit, 3% as of now against 17%, 34% ad 36%!
I think we still can do it but, we need every bits of help we can get!

One last thing (or two Tongue):
We're having a photo shoot next week so, we'll get our pretty faces in nice setups and all the eye candy so, I'll post them when they get ready!
Also, I'm recording some bass for Carine's solo album as well, which rocks as hell!
Whenever we have something we can post, I'll let you guys know, this women can sing like there's no tomorrow!

So, that's it for now but I'll come later on to post more as good news comes in!

Thanks for reading as always!

Stephan, sorry it's taken me a few days to get back to this thread.  I've been sick and busy with the next episode of the Podcast.

That's some fantastic news.  Did you mean to say that you made the frontpage of a newspaper?  If so, do you have a scan of it?  I would love to see!  I'll check out the site a little later.

http://www.myspace.com/exutorium/photos/albums/dossier-de-presse/1065727
Cool eh??

And for the website, I have put only small efforts, about 10 hours total but, it was 10 hours well spent and much needed! The old page sucked hard!! haha

I'll come back later with more news!!

I would translate the article but right now I'm a bit busy with the launch parties we have booked in the next weeks! I'm gonna translate it soon just to be able to brag about my band not only in my maiden's language but in english as well!  Grin

And as for the website, believe me dude, it's not that hard with all the technologies available out there nowadays! And I've been a specialized web developer for about 13 years now so, I got the idea at some point!  Wink

Hi folks!
Newsflash! We performed for our fist of five album release parties and appart from no medias present at all (which was the main goal) we had a great crowd and a bar owner VERY pleased and hinting us about playing paid gigs in the next few months or maybe sooner!
Plus, the newly well-earned fans if I can say it that way, will support us by calling local radio stations to ask for us to be played on the airs!
What can I say?
We just tasted a glimpse of what a band is all about when the fanbase is staring to take hold!
The event was filmed in HD on a small full 1080p HD cam of mine on a tripod and another camera which is an old VHS... I can't say if I'll be able to come up with something worth showing but I'll try to post something on youtube very shortly if anything out of the tapes are worth it and will post the link in here!

The performance was VERY solid and almost flawless minus some technical sound glitches due to the fact that's hard to gauge how the crownd being in place will alter the sound movements and stuff...

So that's it for now!

Keep looking in this thread and thanks for reading my not so coherent (maybe) speeches! I'm a bit tired and worn out by the adrenaline rush, you know the drill eh?
