I would like to share with you my new solo-project, just some f'kin hard instrumental rock from Italy. For now just 3 covers and an original track are available.

Please, post any comment that runs through your head, especially on mixing & recording quality (bypass the quality-loss due to myspace player)

Welcome to the board guys.
Listening to RedShift Riders now. A pretty good rock tune - mix sounds OK on my PC speakers. Driving beat propels the song along nicely. Lots of energy on display. Great use of sustain on the guitar - Plus a bit of shred for the fanatics. I'm a sucker for Instrumental Rock.
Please let us know when you have more original tuneage.

Love the crunch on "Redshift Riders!" I hear some of the whimsy of Rush as well in "Unspoken Wish," almost like a more modern version of something off of A Farewell to Kings. Any Rush influence there?
Good stuff!

Welcome to the forum. Definitely feelin' the Satch vibe on these tunes. You guys demonstrate some pretty good talent! Wow, that lead guitar! I'm really happy to see some Italians too! :-)
Do you guys have any studio pics or videos?

This was our first recording, and for that I choose to record 4 covers and a original tune. Actually I'm going to record solos for the last track (One big rush) and I don't know when it'll be ready, I hope in a week... There are also other original tunes going to be recorded some day

There's always some Rush influence
even if I don't intentionally use it!

Good Playing.
Good Structure.
Good Texture.
Good Energy.
Does anyone else here think
melody
is uniquely important?

oh absolutely. melody is the most important element, from a compositional point of view.

Really cool pictures. That looks like a really accommodating studio. Diggin' the Sabians too. How would you describe your studio experience?

The studio looks great. What are you using for soundproofing?

I'm really sorry, but I don't know the details of the soundproofing in our studio, my drummer does, but I don't remember anything
Regarding the studio experience that's a totally self-taught one... I started juggling around with programs like Music Studio and other ones until I came to what was called at the time "Cooledit" (now it's Audition) and started to learn something on recording tracks. Then My drummer and I started to record together first with a little mixer then with a 16-channel audio interface switching from Cooledit to Cubase SX. Then during the following 3 years I learned to use Cubase in detail working with it at home (I remember my fights with the latency of sound-blaster cards
) and applying what I learned at home to the studio... Finally my drummer decided to build that little box, buy some good mics (especially a lot of SM57
) and good amps. We use this place both for rehersal and for recording, but it's only with this last demo that we reached a very good sound, the previous results were a "march" towards what you heard
.

D,
cool avatar BTW...
Anyway, I used to work with Cool Edit, but for standard audio editing stuff I prefer Sound Forge. I actually have a really old version that I use.

If you're talking about the mic it's a Behringer (don't remember the model) and the Guitar is a Ibanez JS-100 ^^

listening to Motorcycle Driver again... I think you got the "cruisin with the top down" vibe perfect. :-) How many original songs do you have?

The only original song we recorded is "Unspoken Wish" but there are many original songs still "in the closet" waiting to be recorded i wish to track down at least 2 more tunes
I was thinking to make some video, but the last time we recorded (it was when we made that pics) was really late (about 23:30) to make also some vid... maybe this or next week i'll manage to make some video ^^

yeah, dude. Definitely some cool tunes. JSX !! I though i recognized that from somewhere. how long have you had it? Have you tried the Satch amp from Peavy? Im normally not a big Peavy endorser, but it absolutely rocks! I'm came really, really, really close to buying one, but i went with mesa instead. some days i wonder 'what if'...

No I haven't yet played on that amp, since it's about a year i'm playing this guitar on that marshall and results are satisfying ^^
We also have a little combo by mesa in the studio but I still prefer the Marshall

the satch amp is great, but a little too hot for what i do. i think many players/bands get gear that is "stadium quality" and then go and play a tiny little club, essentially, the gear sounds too 'big' for venue! Teh satch amp would be a great studio toy, though.

Hello everybody it's been quite a long time... I've been away for many reasons, but since now I am a few steps far from graduating I have some time to breathe again...
I'm not coming back with empty hands so I'll post two tunes i recorded at home for Redshift Riders... It's only a matter of time before we'll get into the studio again and record these two tracks and a couple of covers.. can't really wait!

Nice to hear back from you D3mi0s.
Right off the bat, Event Horizon is smoking hot! The drums sound almost perfect, starting this song off like a rocket dude. for a second there I thought they might have been MIDI. Dude, you guys have the satch vibe down, but this really competes with Satch. I really think this song highlights a true progression of your songwriting talents. I'm assuming this is an original composition, right? Seriously great material here.
I'll listen to Troubles later.

Wow, this is funny, Drums in these two songs ARE MIDI
(bass too) and guitars are recorded with an amp simulator. I recorded this at home as a draft for when we will record it seriously
And yeah, it's original composition :p I got stuck for some months while I couldn't write anything and last sunday I just came up with Event Horizon (inspired by seeing the "Event Horizon" movie), while Troubles is a little bit older, written about a year ago.
Can't wait to get in studio and lay down those two track, but unfortunately we lack time

Oh I gotcha, so this is a work in progress? It sounds like the compositions are there, and that you guys intend to record them in the studio. But for demos, they sound really good.
I love Event Horizon, such a horrific yet awesome movie.
Listening to Troubles now.

D3im0s, you're an amazing talent on the guitar man. The solo section at about 5:30 in Troubles is just awesome, just awesome!
While the song in general is a bit too chaotic for my taste, I'm sure it would appeal to fans of progressive instrumental rock. I think it's more complex than Satriani, but not too over the top like DT tends to be sometimes.
