Hi guys,
Again, I've been so busy with so much stuff lately that I haven't posted a lot in here. In fact, I've just posted about my departure from Capharnaüm and that's it.
Now, I'm here to tell you guys about the new band I'm playing with: Les Omega 4
This band makes alternative rock compositions and plays some covers as well in the same genre.
I used to play with the singer and we did good but had to part ways at some point because of other band mates not having the same vision and goals I had and it was creating too much conflicts so in the end, I stepped aside to keep the friendships, which worked perfectly!
Now, I had my first real composition session with the singer as I'm doing not only bass parts but, also collaborate on the arrangements and back vocal lines.
We nailed two new compositions' structure and back vocal lines this afternoon then the rest of the band arrived and we recorded our reheasal for the very first time and it sounded great!
It feels good to be part of something again and be able to contribute and get results!
I might have some sound clips to post in the next upcoming weeks in you guys are interested.
Anyways, this is just a heads up in case anyone wanna know!
We plan on playing gigs this summer if we manage to get a good and solid lead guitar player.
There's one interested right now but as long as we haven,t met him, it's just like we don't have one...
Keep you posted!
Stephan

Hey hey folks!
As usual, long time no post! Well, a lot is going on right now! The band in which I'm playing, Les Omegas 4, is still under reconstruction and we are in the process of trying out a new lead player.
We're still working on it!
In the meantime, since I really need to satisfy my hunger of playing live and contribute to other style of music, I just confirmed with my friend Marc that I'll be joining his new band which doesn't have a name yet.
The style is also not defined right now but we want to play covers as well as compositions.
This started as a contribution I was supposed to be part of to complete several composition this guy made in the past.
We met, talk and came to the conclusion that we think alike and the idea of starting a band grew om his mind to the point he gathered people he know to see if the idea would be possible.
So, in the end, I talked with my wife and she agrees to travel 250km twice a month to go and rehearse with these guys!
Man I love my wife! haha
So, for a preview of what this guy creates and do, here's his MySpace page:

I listened to How Much Love & Work In Progress. I really like the energy of the first one. The second one appeals to the classical dude inside me. Very nice buildup. The percussive elements are a great touch. The video for this one was enjoyable - OK I'm a geek & I dig seeing the gear. I liked it. This is a song I would love to hear when he's through - Marc's a talented dude.
Best of luck with it man.

Hi guys!
Since my ears were ringing and that my good friend Stéphan told me he had posted something in here about my stuff, I decided to join your great family! I'm quite impressed! I think that forums like your are essential to help independant musicians like us to get more attention or reviews. I'm pretty please by your comments Aswepe, thanks for the support. Comments, both good and/or bad are always needed in order to shape up the final result. I'll be posting here more often as new stuff is ready for all of you to review.
Thanks again guys!
Keep the rock alive and Kickin'!

Stephan, to which new musical venture should this thread be dedicated to? Since Marc has posted here, I'm thinking of dedicating this thread towards his music.
Let me know.
anyway, I've listened to some of the music and it certainly falls in the progressive metal category.
Marc, it seems like you have a lot of talent. these are some pretty solid instrumentals you have going on here. glad to see it's not just constant shredding.
unfortunately i'm currently listening to your music on a pair of laptop speakers, which hardly does this music justice. when did you record all of this music? how has stephan been helping out?

Hi Brian!
This thread will be definitively be about Mark's project from now on.
I still am part of the first project annouced here but it's on the slow pace right now and will be kept that way for a long time I guess, unfortunately... I don't want to put has much efforts into it as I did in the past considering the same situations seems to come back...
Anyways!
Glad you like his stuff!
As for me doing anything in these is: None.... Yet!
I'm currently listeing/learning/composing bass lines for some of his compositions.
Right now I'm almost done with "My Destination" but I want to put a little more time on it so it grows on me or wear out... If the later happens, I will work harder on getting the right bass track for it!
But as i mentionned, the collaborative approach has taken a new path and now, we're starting a cover band covering the 80's (Motley Crue, INXS, Europe, Cindy Lauper, [name it]) with a new fresh actual sound and if all goes well, we'll start to include brand new original compositions!
I'm really excited about this as it falls EXACTLY under what I've been looking for a long time!
We have our first rehearsing in about 1½ week and I'm pretty sure it'll be killer!
In a near future, I'm pretty sure we'll have something to show to you guys, just for the fun of it!
Talk to you later!

Hi Brian! Hey, pretty pleased to hear you comments about my music. I've started recording some tid bits back in 2003 when I was working with another friend of mine. We then were recording with his Korg D1600. At that time, 4 entire songs (except vocals) were recorded. On my MySpace, you can actually listen to "Through Space & Time" (that just got overhauled with new keyboard tracks) and "Rising Up A New World". The other 2 aren't posted because I though they were missing some extra work. Anyways, In the meantime, I bought my own Korg D1600 mkII (an upgraded version of the D1600) and started working on some new stuff alone back home. Then I though that with today's wonderful technology and how easy it was to share files, I just got to ask some fellow musicians to collaborate to my music. And that's just what is currently happening right now. Met Stephan through our respective wives and BAM! Another great collaboration took life and turned to be more than that. Like Stephan said himself, he is just starting to get involved into MY personnal projects along OUR mutual new one.
Hope that everyone in here will love what we'll be doing in the next weeks/months! Stay tuned for some really good makeover of '80s classics! Stephan just spoke about Cindy Lauper....Wait 'til you hear what we'll do with one of her greatest hits...

We had a nice rehearsing session! Some nice things happened there!
Whats making me the most enthousiastic is the musicianship level and the dedication of every members in the band! We had to learn 6 cover songs for that rehearsal in not so much time - 2 weeks I think - and everyone delivered! At this pace, we will have our cover list done in no time and will start doing gigs everywhere (I hope! hehe)
Then, once the band will be built on strongest relationships, we will start the composition process I guess? Who knows what this project will bring!!!
Stay tuned!!

Brian, that's a very good idea! But first I think we need to make sure we really need a keyboard player or not and wait for the lead singer to start coming to the rehearsals as he's very busy during this month.
But yeah, that's a really good point!
We will also need a band name!
Good stuff to discuss this week-end!
I like it!

Hi Guys!
As Stephan clearly stated, the rehearsal went pretty good and it's kind of very motivating to see and feel the other band members enthusiatic response. Brian, as I said in an earlier post, don't worry a bit my friend, as soon as we have a some pics, vids and some "enjoyable" recordings of our rehearsals, It will be a great pleasure to share them with you all.
And Stephan, as far as the future band's name is concerned, I think it would be a great idea to post the question right here and see what people think! And of course, we'll go through a little brainstorming session with the other guys...! lolll
Stay tuned everyone,
Mark

Ok ok ok! Now that I stopped laughing like there's no tomorrow, I think Abort-Retry-Fail isn't that bad! Or in the same trend: Control+Alt+delete would rock too!
Ok, maybe Alt+Tab is better...
Anyways! Like Marc mentioned, we will probably shoot some rehearsals and, I have the perfect little toy for that: a true 1080i HD Panasonic Camcorder!
Alrighty guys, I have to go rehearse a bit!

good stuff fellas!"rising up a new world" Reminds me a little of Stratovarious, or some symphonic metal in that vein. I like it, some cool hooks and effects in there, dig the slowed down flange. Pretty rockin stuff!

Thanks a lot seotci! your comments are very appreciated. Rising Up A New World is an older song and will soon be remix with real drums (it was then recorded using a very old drum machine). The vocals lines should also be done around the same time. Work in progress is about 30% done and I just can't wait to show you the final result once I'm done with it!

Hi guys,
We told you that once we had some recordings of our rehearsals we would post them for all of you to hear and know where our current project is heading at, here's a link to a little glimpse of Cyndy Lauper's She Bop cover. Note that it's not perfect, but it give you the idea of what we want to do with our new band: to revisit some of the greatest hits from the '80s giving them a fresh new kick in the ass! Follow the link and download it.
Enjoy!
