Hi there!
Here is another one I'm currently working on. This is wayyyyyyyy early in the build, but it will give you an idea of the song once again....Noticed that Éric, the drummer, took 2 single shots at it while recording it as the tracks were playing and never heard the song before I went by his place last weekend to work on some of my stuff! loll...Now, imagine what it could sound like once everybody has learned their parts and rehearsed it a couple time to get tightness! Can't wait to get the complete song structure and record it for good with the guys!

This one has a Rush type feel to it, which is kinda neat. Much different than the epic you posted above. Do you plan on recording an album full of a particular type of music?

Brian, after reading your DIY guide, I'm more thinking about recording some of my songs in a real studio than planning a whole album. Maybe an EP at best for now. You see, I have about 25 songs in store, but they go from classic Rock style to Melodic Power Metal. I don't have enough of 1 particular kind to put up a specific album. And given that recording in professionnal studio is a little bit more demanding in terms of money and free time, I think I will try to get some of them to sound professionnal and when I will get enough songs on the list, I'll think about an album.
There's another thing here too...Since I'm working on the '80s cover project with Stephan and the other guys, we will probably start working on our own material which could include some of my already existing work. If every members of the band likes the style of writing, we'll point the sound of the band in that direction. I can pretty well assume that "Progressive-Rock/Metal" will be on the menu...lolll
Stay tuned!

Definitely got the
RUSH
vibe going on this one - I can hear it very distinctly. Not a bad thing at all.
This one has a hypnotic quality to it that is difficult to escape or ignore. Drums sound a little mechanical to me though - could be these crappy laptop speakers (this from someone who's currently doing all his drums with Virtual Instruments). I like the active fluid basslines. For an early work this one is pretty solid.
This one doesn't grab me until the 0:36 second mark where the guitar takes over. Nice. Those little bell cymbal hits starting at 1:11 make very effective accents - nice touch dude. Please keep us posted on the progress of this one.

Thanks for the comments Aswepe! As I said, this one is in VERY EARLY stage of creation. Imagine, I did the bassline one shot just by jaming on my GUITAR using a pitch shifter! I wanted to be able to get something to show Stephan to give him a general idea of what I was aiming for for the bass line. For the drums, I came up to my drummer's house and he never heard the song at all. We listened the guitar tracks and we hit the record button. The first time he played it was good but the second time around, some very good vibes came out of the jam.....We stuck with it! Can't wait to work on it again and show you all the progress!

Marc, I've listened to it. Very Rush-ish and I like it A LOT!!
I jammed to it this morning and will continue to put time on it to get the bass groove kickin!
I already have some cool lines based on what I hear!
Now, it's with sadness that i have to report that my laptop died completely after 2 repairs.
Now the warranty is also over its limit and I can't get to talk with a decent person at Dell...
I'm pissed off because this monster cost me 4800$ 3 years ago. It's an XPS 1710M from Dell and I was setup to record with it.
Now, I could use my old desktop but, to my unpleasant surprise lately, the CPU started overheating...
So, now I can't do anything that uses the CPU too much because it'll either shutdown automatically OR melt the Motherboard down...
So now I'm a bit stuck as far as recording goes... I don't have money to get these fixed right now so, I REALLY hope Dell will show me their good will and repair OR replace it for free because let's face it: 3 years of perfect functioning of the Box then, a month and a half BEFORE the warranty ends, the GPU blows up. They replace it once. A month goes, boom again, same crap but now, they decide to send it to a 3rd party company to replace the part and then, another month goes by and BOOM! The whole computer dies... It's not booting anymore, I can't even go in the BIOS, it's dead!!

Stephan, sorry to hear that you're beloved computer left for another world! Anyways, jam to the song and make it your own pal! I talked with André Dorval (DreyWorld Studios owner) today and he will send me prices and everything I have to know to plan a recording with him. I should get all info by early next week. This song could very much end up being the ONE to go studio with finally. So, I guess we better start working this one out in order to get the maximum out of the studio sessions. I'm working on the lyrics and the second part of the song right now...the part that comes just after where the first part ends up (figures...but hey...!).
Next time you drop by to rehearse, we will try to quickly record your tracks with my D1600. In the meantime, I'll try to finish the whole structure and record it so you can work on it.
See ya soon buddy!

Oooooooh it's been too long since I've posted here but, I had nothing really interesting to write as my life just continued on that dreaded "badluck" trend... I've lost my job... Yes, the one I'm talking in another thread in here... They closed the place down right after we completed the last set of bug fixes...
Anyways!
Moving on, we FINALLY played a gig altogether me and my pals from our 80's cover band named: 80's Again!!
I promised you guys, numerous times, that I would post videos of us rehearsing and whatnot but the footage wasn't really worth the effort and besides, my computer was almost dying just by looking at it!!
Now, that first gig went on, it was cool and was somewhat indicating that this project will continue on for a long time (I sincerely hope and believe!!)
So, as promised, here's links to 5 of the 35 songs we played that past friday night for a nice Halloween party in the middle of nowhere!

Hey Stephan, nice to hear from you! Hey can you do me a favor and repost this in the 80s Again thread that Marc started in the General Chat board? this is some good stuff, and I'd rather not delete your comments
