waste of time?
only because there are lots of ppl who play instruments and think they are better than they really are.
same for any type of art, i suppose.
and today, with the net, anyone can claim to be anything, without much verification.
in my early career, i had ~ 6 major hits in Australia. this is verifiable.

unfortunately, this countries music industry is really no more.
young, talented ppl here are discouraged, now, and would have to go o/s to have a decent career.
our gov't's are not very enthusiastic about the arts.
they go thru the motions, but that's all.
most my recent sales and success has come from marketing product in USA and Europe.
i'd leave here but i'm getting a little too long in the tooth to start over.
